COTABATO CITY (March 5, 2018)—The Department of Agrarian Reform, ARMM joins the nation in celebrating the 2018 National Women’s Month this March. This year’s ARMM theme is “Meaningful Change for Bangsamoro Women Can Happen”.
DAR-ARMM has lined up series of activities which include, among others, awarding of 2017 Most Outstanding Employee, lecture on the salient provisions of the Bangsamoro Basic Law and providing free legal consultation to women.
“Most of the division chief positions in DAR-ARMM are occupied by women. This is the kind of achievement we wish to highlight in this Women’s Month, to prove that women thrive and excel in leadership roles,” said Amalhayat Macabato, the GAD focal person of the Department.
DAR-ARMM Regional Secretary Dayang Carlsum Sangkula-Jumaide underscored the important role that women play in the government and in the agrarian sector. ”This year, we pay tribute to all the women employees of DAR-ARMM who continue to make their mark, effect positive changes, and inspire others to do the same. We also want to give credits to our women farmers in their fight against food insecurity and their active role in agriculture-related activities, i.e., crop production, postharvest and livestock management activities. Truly, women can make a big difference,” she said.
The Women’s Month Celebration was instituted through Republic Act 6949 on April 10, 1990 declaring March 8 of every year as National Women’s Day.
