COTABATO CITY – A groundbreaking ceremony for the rehabilitation of a one (1) kilometer farm-to-market road with single barrel box culvert for Inug-ug agrarian reform community (ARC), Maguindanao was conducted last January 18, 2017.
The Inug-ug ARC was identified as a beneficiary for the Agrarian Reform Community Development Support Program (IARCDSP).
The project is also foreseen to mitigate the catastrophic effect of the yearly experience of the community on flooding.
Present during the ceremony were Pagalungan Honorable Municipal Mayor Salik P. Mamasabulod, MPDC Jose Larry A. Mendoza, MARO Amina A. Ebrahim, Barangay Captain Ali B. Murray, DARPO Staff and ARBO Representatives. The subproject is contracted to John Ray Developer and Supplies.
The project will benefit the five (5) Sitios with 1,628 populations. The land area covers 747.7782 hectares having 645 hectares of agricultural land and 225 hectares under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program with 193 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries. The rehabilitation is expected to be completed within ninety (90) working days. The infrastructure works consist of gravelling with 5.0 carriageways; 1.5 meters shoulder both sides and construction of 3mx3mx6m single barrel box culvert.
The DAR and IARCDSP expect the project once completed, will improve the road access of the ARBs and increase of annual household income. The farm to market road will encourage investment opportunities in the area. These will increase the number of agricultural areas for production growth and reduction of hauling cost. For the sustainability of the subproject, the operation and maintenance will be jointly managed by the Inug-ug Farmers Marketing Cooperative and MLGU of Pagalungan, Maguindanao. (DARPO Maguindanao)
